Top 10 Places in Atlanta to Meet Singles under 50
By Emily Dodge (Date Coach)
If you are reading this, I am assuming you are single and are trying to meet someone new and Atlanta is a hard place to date for heterosexual singles. Because there are more women to men and everything is so spread out, meeting new singles can be tough. If you aren’t online dating, I suggest you do. If you didn’t have success with it the first time, don’t get discouraged!
1. Fetch Dog Park (O4W, Buckhead, The Works coming soon)
Fetch Dog Parks are taking over Atlanta. The parks are spacious off-leash dog parks with an open-air bar offering cocktails, beer, wine & shaded seating. People of all ages frequent and bring their pups. Don’t have a dog? No worries. You can still go!
Date Coach Tip: The reason why this is a hot spot to meet singles is because the atmosphere is so inviting and people are more willing to talk to strangers if their pup is around. Plus, what an easy conversation starter, people LOVE talking about their dogs! My advice is to go to Fetch on Saturday’s around 2pm 3pm or 4pm to find people at their most social and ready to converse.
2. St. Regis Bar
This tends to be where new money meets old money. This establishment is fancier (so dress up), more expensive (the house wine is $18 or $20), and goes late night. People at the bar are always interested in being friendly and talking to new people. What’s also nice? Men are not afraid to go up to women here.
Date Coach Tip: If you maintain good eye contact, smile, and look away, most likely he will come introduce himself.
3. The Roaring Social
Downtown Alpharetta’s new speakeasy! From the street you’ll see a clothing alterations shop. Step inside and down the stairs, talk the code through the telephone and you’ll be introduced to a Gatsby style 1920’s party. Live music every night starting at 8pm.
Date Coach Tip: Dress your best, come willing to laugh, smile, and dance and you’ll be a hit with fellow singles.
4. Ladybird Grove and Mess Hall
Big spot for Brunch on Saturday’s and Sunday’s. Located on the Beltine, Ladybird is a great spot for casual hangs, delicious food, and a few drinks. They also have live music on Saturdays!
Date Coach Tip: Women- wear shoes that are good in gravel! I learned the hard way!
5. Kaleidoscope Bistro
Brookhaven’s “sports” bar. Did you know a good amount of single men live in Brookhaven and really like to STAY in Brookhaven? It’s a fun fact I’ve learned over the years of also living in Brookhaven. Men have everything they need on Dresden Drive, ,from a Savi Market, to Dixie Q BBQ, to the One Sushi, to the Beer Growler, to Verde Mexican, to Haven for American food, to Vero for pizza, and Valenza for Italian. Am I missing anything? Oh yeah, a burger joint and Arnette’s Chopshop which is a 4 dollar sign steakhouse. See what I mean? Men think, “Why leave?” So, they love to hang out and frequent all of these places….but, manly Kaleidoscope.
Date Coach Tip: Don’t be afraid to talk to a guy at the bar. They are all so nice and friendly and are willing to chat.
6. Boone’s
The Bobby Jones Golf Course got revamped and redone! This is a public golf course and feels like your own country club! Single men go play golf and come back to the clubhouse for drinks and lunch (which is where the single women are enjoying a cocktail).
Date Coach Tip: Weeknight Happy Hour time is best and weekends around lunch to 2pm!
7. Vin 25
Right in the heart of Roswell, it’s a neighborhood wine bar and it’s a really great place to meet singles. Friday and Saturday are live music nights on the patio.
Date Coach Tip: Introduce yourself by talking about the music as the ice breaker. “Gosh, I missed live music! This guy is so good!”
8. The Moxy Hotel Bar and Highnote Rooftop
Calling all millennials! This is the spot in Midtown for a night cap and the rooftop is always hosting fun events that singles attend. Check out their Instagram for details and upcoming parties.
Date Coach Tip: Uber here! Parking in the garage can get expensive and it’s a third party company so they don’t validate.
9. The Select
Calling all singles over 40! Sandy Springs has the hottest new restaurant. With delicious food (seriously) and a whimsical bar area, The Select is always busy…so keep that in mind when planning to go.
Date Coach Tip: Hang out in the bar area to meet the other singles.
10. The Den, Beetlecat
The Den is Located behind Beetlecat, underneath the restaurant. People frequent this establishment during happy hour time and pretty much all Saturday. Everyone is friendly and there are games, a good bar area, and all around great vibes for meeting new people.
Date Coach Tip: See a cutie at the bar? Tell him/her that his/her drink looks delicious and ask them what it is. After that, introduce yourself and get-to talking.
